PREMIERE RADIO NETWORKS is moving JIM ROME's syndicated sports show from BCA Sports XEPRS-A (XX 1090)/SAN DIEGO to crosstown CLEAR CHANNEL Sports KLSD-A (XTRA SPORTS 1360), starting OCTOBER 4th, reports the SAN DIEGO UNION-TRIBUNE's JAY POSNER.
BCA VP/Programming JACK EVANS told POSNER that the decision to move the show was made by CLEAR CHANNEL, owner of PREMIERE, rather than either BCA or ROME. "This was taken out of his hands and our hands," said EVANS. "They want to put JIM ROME on a company-owned station. But they are taking JIM off a superior signal like 1090 and putting him on a significantly inferior signal in 1360. I think this is CLEAR CHANNEL's way of saying, 'This is our last chance to save 1360.'"
ROME worked for BCA owner JOHN LYNCH early in his career, starting his show at the old XETRA-A (XTRA SPORTS 690) when LYNCH operated that station.
