Radio, Music Represented Again On Forbes 400 List Of Wealthiest Americans

The radio and music industries are represented once again on FORBES magazine's list of the richest 400 people in AMERICA. BILL GATES, WARREN BUFFETT, and LARRY ELLISON once again top the list ranked by net worth, with SAM WALTON's WALMART heirs CHRISTY, JIM, ALICE, and S. ROBSON WALTON in 4th, 7th, 8th, and 9th place.
Radio's top rich guy is NEW YORK Mayor and BLOOMBERG RADIO founder MICHAEL BLOOMBERG, in 10th place with a net worth of $18 billion. GOOGLE's co-founders LARRY PAGE and SERGEY BRIN, whose company is moving into the music space, are tied for 11th; AMAZON's JEFF BEZOS is 18th; COX ENTERPRISES' ANNE COX CHAMBERS is 19th; media mogul RUPERT MURDOCH is tied for 38th with COX ENTERPRISES' JIM KENNEDY and BLAIR PARRY-OKEDEN; APPLE's STEVE JOBS comes in at 42nd; GOOGLE's ERIC SCHMIDT is 48th; DAVID GEFFEN is 54th; and WALMART's ANN WALTON KROENKE is tied for 98th.
Also, LIBERTY MEDIA's JOHN MALONE is tied for 110th; VIACOM's SUMNER REDSTONE is tied for 124th; OPRAH WINFREY is tied for 130th; WALMART's NANCY WALTON LAURIE is tied for 136th; CHARLES DOLAN, patriarch of CABLEVISION SYSTEMS (owner of, among other things, RAINBOW MEDIA, which in turn owns music video channel FUSE), is tied for 144th; TOM GORES, whose equity firm is involved with WESTWOOD ONE, is tied for 153rd; UNIVISION's JERRY PERENCHIO is tied for 164th; and HEARST CORP.'s WILLIAM RANDOLPH HEARST is tied for 170th.
HEARST's AUSTIN HEARST, GEORGE HEARST JR. and PHOEBE HEARST COOKE are tied for 221st while DAVID HEARST JR. is 221st; HUBBARD BROADCASTING's STANLEY HUBBARD is on the list tied at 236th; ALEC GORES is in a tie at 238th; CLEAR CHANNEL co-founder RED MCCOMBS is 308th; THOMAS H. LEE, whose investment firm partnered in CLEAR CHANNEL's gaping private, is tied at 308th; YAHOO!'s JERRY YANG and DAVID FILO are tied at 356th; and RED ZEBRA BROADCASTING and WASHINGTON REDSKINS owner DAN SNYDER is tied at 365th with AOL's STEVE CASE.
