UNIVERSITY OF ARKANSAS athletics Dir./Broadcasting and football and baseball radio play-by-play broadcaster CHUCK BARRETT will add men's basketball to his duties this season.
BARRETT is replacing MIKE NAIL, the 29-year veteran of the HOGS' radio broadcasts who retired after last season, in calling basketball for the RAZORBACKS on ISP SPORTS' RAZORBACK SPORTS NETWORK.
"For nearly 20 years, fans throughout ARKANSAS have listened to CHUCK BARRETT describe some of the most memorable moments in RAZORBACK history," Vice Chancellor and Dir./Athletics JEFF LONG said. "A native Arkansan, CHUCK is an excellent broadcaster and has an ability to provide vivid descriptions of game action while integrating the tremendous passion our state has for the RAZORBACKS into each broadcast. When fans tune in and hear CHUCK's distinctive delivery, they immediately know they are following the HOGS and are undoubtedly listening to the voice of the RAZORBACKS. For 29 seasons, MIKE NAIL brought ARKANSAS basketball into the homes of RAZORBACK fans. I have no doubt CHUCK will carry on that tradition of excellence in broadcasting RAZORBACK basketball."
"I am honored to be selected as the next basketball play-by-play broadcaster at the UNIV. OF ARKANSAS," BARRETT said. "I have tremendous respect and admiration for MIKE NAIL and am humbled to follow one of ARKANSAS' legendary broadcasters in this position. For decades, radio broadcasts have helped bring our entire state together behind the RAZORBACKS. I appreciate JEFF LONG and RAZORBACK SPORTS PROPERTIES for giving me the opportunity to be a small part of the special relationship between our state and the RAZORBACKS."
