Cisco Still Believes In Radio Advertising

CISCO has a plan to use various advertising methods to help roll out its new "UMI" video calling system, and that plan includes a combination of "experiential," traditional and online marketing will make UMI a CHRISTMAS holiday hit. THE FINANCIAL TIMES reports, "the proliferation of communications media has made marketing products in the 21st century much more complex. Decidedly old-school methods -- from billboards to radio -- are still relevant."
"It is great to use the techniques that worked in the past, and then use new forms of marketing as well," says CISCO Chief Marketing Officer SUE BOSTROM. "There certainly are a lot of different avenues to pursue, but it’s a huge opportunity."
In order for customers to get a hands-on experience, CISCO has set up kiosks in shopping malls around the U.S. Users will get the chance to make video calls to other users, and in some cases place a UMI (pronounced youme) call to SANTA CLAUS.
