ENTRAVISION COMMUNICATIONS CORP., ALONG WITH REFORM IMMIGRATION FOR AMERICA, is launching a public service campaign to educate and inform local communities about the DREAM Act. The Act is a proposal currently in Congress that would give eligible young people who were brought to the U.S. as children the opportunity to legalize their immigration status and work towards U.S. citizenship.
ENTRAVISION is running a series of PSAs that were produced with REFORM IMMIGRATION FOR AMERICA, across its television and radio station group, and online media platforms as part of this educational and civic initiative.
"Local Latino communities have been following the immigration debate very closely for years, and with all the discussion around the DREAM Act, we thought it was important to help provide information to our viewers and listeners about how this pending bill may impact them, their families and our local communities," ENTRAVISION Chairman/CEO WALTER F. ULLOA said. "The issues around immigration continue to generate significant interest, and we are committed to positively promoting civic participation by giving our audiences the information they need to make informed decisions about what’s happening in their community and state."
"ENTRAVISION’s extraordinary leadership and community outreach demonstrates that they are a strong and committed partner to Latinos and immigrants," REFORM IMMIGRATION FOR AMERICA Chair ALI NOORANI said. "We have the opportunity to pass the DREAM Act over the next two weeks. To get this done, we need Americans to contact their Senators and Representatives to tell them that we need their vote for the DREAM Act. Entravision’s efforts to share this message with their viewers and listeners is critical to moving up to two million young people out of the shadows and into their rightful place as fully contributing members of this great country."
