As rumored last month (NET NEWS 12/6), SUNRISE BROADCASTING flipped Regional Mexican WLGD (LA GRAND D 98.7 FM)/WILMINGTON, NC to Alternative as "COASTAL CAROLINAS MODERN ROCK 98.7" TODAY at 10a (ET) under OM/PD DAN BINDER.
SUNRISE signed off Alternative WSFM (SURF 98.3) last week when SEA-COMM reacquired the station and relocated its Triple A station WUIN (THE PENGUIN) from 106.7 to the 98.3 frequency.
BINDER told ALL ACCESS, "MODERN ROCK 98.7 will be a mass-appeal station centered in the '90s. The station is 100,00 watts and reaches NEW BERN to the north all the way down to the NORTH CAROLINA/SOUTH CAROLINA state line."
Most of WSFM's on-air lineup has shifted to COASTAL CAROLINAS MODERN ROCK 98.7 anchored by new morning host CHRISTINE MARTINEZ, who moves from middays on sister AC WILT (SUNNY 104.5). TAYLOR and A-WEBB remain in middays and afternoons, respectively. CONRAD (formerly known as THE MAYOR) continues in nights and will also host the "MODERN ROCK 98.7 LOCAL LOUNGE" airing MONDAY-THURSDAY from 11p-mid.
A-WEBB, who previously hosted "THE FINAL HOUR" will be launching a new specialty show entitled "THE SUPER FRESH NEW MUSIC SHOW" on SUNDAY evenings at a yet-to-be-determined time.
