CITADEL Talk WJR-A/DETROIT Pres./GM MIKE FEZZEY has decided -- at age 53 -- to dump radio and become a banker as the new President of HUNTINGTON BANCSHARES' SOUTHEASTERN MICHIGAN region. THE DETROIT NEWS reports the "DETROIT native and veteran radio executive has no previous banking experience, but is known as a booster for the region, serving on the boards of a number of civic groups."
"MIKE has a unique combination of business acumen, civic leadership and communication skills," HUNTINGTON's Commercial Banking Dir. JIM DUNLAP said in a statement. "His background will enable him to lead HUNTINGTON's continued growth in the market, while working with business, civic and government leaders to play a greater role in MICHIGAN's recovery."
FEZZET told THE NEWS, "I am delighted to join HUNTINGTON's team. Their willingness to invest in technology and the service-based businesses, such as health care, matches my passion for this community's long-term viability." ."
