Former UNIVERSITY OF OREGON Quarterback JOEY HARRINGTON donated a pair of tickets to the BCS Championship game in an effort to raise money for THE HARRINGTON FAMILY FOUNDATION. ALPHA BROADCASTING Sports KXTG (95.5 THE GAME)/PORTLAND, OR, the DUCK's flagship station, hosted an online auction this week and raised $6,500 for the tickets to MONDAY's match-up in GLENDALE, AZ, when OREGON takes on AUBURN in hopes of bringing home the national title.
PORTLAND area resident/DUCK fan SCOTT REED had a trip booked but did not have tickets; he was going to head down in hopes of finding a pair once he arrived. Hearing about the auction he convinced his wife to let him jump into the bidding frenzy and his philanthropy earned him a great pair of tickets, courtesy of HARRINGTON who came to the station to personally hand them off.
THE HARRINGTON FAMILY FOUNDATION's mission is to support, through financial contributions, local and national non-profit organizations. To enhance its ability to serve children in need, the foundation also raises funds through memorabilia sales and benefit events such as an annual summer concert.
