A hearing scheduled by the NEW YORK CITY Council to determine the future of a WAL-MART store in THE BIG APPLE, has become a revenue bonus for area radio stations and other media. CRAINS NEW YORK reports, "many New Yorkers woke up MONDAY morning to a radio advertisement by WAL-MART blasting 'special interest' groups for pressuring the City Council to derail its efforts to open shop in the city."
The ad asks, "Turn down new jobs and stop people from paying lower prices to satisfy some special interest? That's everything people hate about politics."
Fourteen NEW YORK stations were in on the ad buy. Area newspapers are also in on the blitz that shows 71% of New Yorkers favor WAL-MART opening a store in the city.
All of the ads direct listeners and readers to WALMARTNYC.COM for more info.
