CLEAR CHANNEL Chairman Of Media And Entertainment Platforms ROBERT PITTMAN appeared on BLOOMBERG TV TUESDAY (1/11). During his interview with EMILY CHANG in SAN FRANCISCO, PITTMAN said CLEAR CHANNEL needs a "multi-platform reach."
"We've got these great, powerful brands -- so our strategy is we should be wherever our listeners are, with the features and the products they expect," said PITTMAN.
When asked about PANDORA and the threat of Internet Radio, PITTMAN said, "Of all radio listening, the Internet and digital is only about 4%. So it's not what it is in others' businesses -- yet. But we want to make sure we take advantage of it, that we can take it as an opportunity for us to grow, and grow a whole new segment -- and it appears that right now it's additive. That people aren't leaving terrestrial to go to this -- rather, they are able to find their radio stations in more places. And guess what? They listen to the radio more."
