While flood waters peaked below the worst-case estimates, BRISBANE and much of QUEENSLAND are still suffering from the effects of the killer flood, with many people remaining in emergency shelters and a substantial amount of damage done to buildings and infrastructure. Flooding also caused damage in the northwest portion of WESTERN AUSTRALIA as well.
The AUSTRALIAN BROADCASTING CORP.'s 612 ABC BRISBANE has set up a page compiling information and links to fundraising efforts to help victims of the flooding, including the Premier's Flood Relief Appeal, LIFELINE's QUEENSLAND Flood Appeal, and the Flood Relief Fund for North West WESTERN AUSTRALIA. Find out how you can help by clicking here.
In addition, the ABC has a page with emergency links and information, including flood maps, road closures, clean up and recovery, traffic and travel, flood assistance, government and RED CROSS assistance, and streams of ABC local stations in the region.
