The EUROPEAN music service SPOTIFY is set to debut in the UNITED STATES, reports THE NEW YORK POST. "After trying to crack the U.S. market for more than a year, SPOTIFY is close to a deal with one major music company in the U.S. and has gained the support of at least one other," two music-industry sources told the paper.
The holdout label had reportedly been SONY MUSIC, which according to the report is now on board with the project.
"SPOTIFY is launching in the U.S., for sure," one music executive told THE POST. "They've got the deals now."
A SPOTIFY spokesman said, "Negotiations are progressing well, but [we have] nothing to confirm at this stage."
