DUQUESNE UNIVERSITY has finally found a buyer for its noncommercial Talk-Jazz WDUQ/PITTSBURGH, selling the station to ESSENTIAL PUBLIC MEDIA, a partnership of crosstown PITTSBURGH COMMUNITY BROADCASTING CORP. noncommercial Variety WYEP and PUBLIC RADIO CAPITAL's PUBLIC MEDIA CO. for $6 million. The university has been trying to sell the station for an extended period.
"We recognize that WDUQ is a vital community resource as PITTSBURGH's first public radio station, so we are pleased that we've reached an agreement that will continue its legacy of more than 60 years of service to the community," said DUQUESNE President Dr. CHARLES J. DOUGHERTY.
