The UNIVERSITY OF HOUSTON is merging the operations of noncommercial KUHF and PBS affiliate KUHT-TV later this year, reports the HOUSTON CHRONICLE. The school plans to have a single station manager to oversee both stations and 112 full-time employees. Current station managers are being invited to apply for the merged positions.
The school is in the process of buying crosstown RICE UNIVERSITY noncommercial KTRU in a deal that has been met with opposition from some groups at RICE.
