Alpha Broadcasting Garners Two Portland Music Awards

ALPHA BROADCASTING IN PORTLAND, OR, did well at this year’s PORTLAND MUSIC AWARDS. The awards show is the annual celebration of all things music-related in PORTLAND, including bands of every genre, venues of all sizes, retail outlets and locally produced CDs as well as recognition awards for industry achievements. It took place last FRIDAY (1/28).
For the third year in a row, Triple A KINK was recognized for Best Compilation CD for "KINK Live 13." Proceeds from the sale of the CD benefits START MAKING A READER TODAY (S.M.A.R.T.) and is currently on sale at all local FRED MEYER locations.
"This award is gratifying in that it recognizes some of the amazing performances that have come through the BING LOUNGE, entertaining our listeners in such a unique and personal way," said KINK Program Director CHRIS MAYS. "Winning for the third year in a row is a great honor, not only for the artists who have entertained us so wonderfully, but also for the KINK staff who spend many hours working on this compilation."
Meanwhile, Country KUPL took top honors as the 2010 Best Radio Station. KUPL Morning Show personalities SCOTT SIMON and EARTHQUAKE JAKE were on hand to accept the award on behalf of the station.
"This is really about being involved in PORTLAND, being live and local," said SCOTT MAHALICK, Dir./Music Programming for ALPHA BROADCASTING. "We are really excited about what’s happening in PORTLAND and thrilled to be part of it. This award is validation for what we're doing and it feels great!"
