Veteran programmer TIM DUKES has been appointed Dir/Operations for NEXTMEDIA/CHICAGO. DUKES will oversee the programming of NEXTMEDIA’s eight radio stations serving the Suburban CHICAGO market and one in MILWAUKEE. ROBERT FEDER reports that DUKES be based in JOLIET, where he'll primarily oversee programming for Hot AC WSSR-FM (96.7).
The onetime RVP/Programming for CLEAR CHANNEL RADIO/ATLANTA and PD of then-JACOR-owned WEBN/Cincinnati, DUKES also spent two years as PD of EMMIS Classic Rocker WLUP/CHICAGO. "We are indeed honored to have a leader of TIM’s pedigree with us," NEXTMEDIA/CHICAGO GM PATRICK PENDERGAST told staffers in a memo.
"Bringing TIM on board in this position is important as we continue to invest in our programming and strategy," NEXTMEDIA/CHICAGO RVP FLOYD EVANS said. "TIM is no stranger to operating multi-station clusters and has spent time programming in the downtown CHICAGO market. In addition DUKES has experience with Interactive Media making him an asset to our NM360 division."
"I'm thrilled to be returning to my first love of making great stations even better, and to do that with a forward-thinking group like NextMedia makes it more exciting," DUKES said. "I look forward to joining the strong programming team NextMedia has already assembled. Being a radio civilian the last four years has given me incredible insight into how consumers behave. My digital immersion at TRIBUNE INTERACTIVE further prepared me to reach ears and eyes."
