America's Radio News Network Launches First 3-Hour Block
February 4, 2011 at 3:57 AM (PT)
TALK RADIO NETWORK has launched AMERICA'S RADIO NEWS NETWORK with the first of five planned live three-hour news blocks.
The first block, airing noon-3p (ET) weekdays, is anchored by former FOX NEWS RADIO anchor LORI LUNDIN and former CBS O&O KTVT (TV) (CBS 11)/DALLAS-FORT WORTH anchor and conservative commentator CHRIS SALCEDO and will be followed by the launches of four more blocks to offer 15 hours of live all-News radio each day. The first week of the initial block included extensive coverage of the crisis in EGYPT and interviews with several experts, including former Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense K.T. MCFARLAND, AMERICAN ENTERPRISE INSTITUTE Resident Scholar MICHAEL RUBIN, THE WEEKLY STANDARD Executive Editor FRED BARNES, and others.
TRN and AMERICA'S RADIO NEWS NETWORK CEO MARK MASTERS said that the blocks, designed to work either in an all-News format or as stand-alone shows in a standard Talk format, are "beautifully produced, highly informative, fast paced and a 'safe island' for revenue in the midst of a talk lineup or as part of an entire news only lineup for both the local and institutional advertising marketplace. Opinion radio can be, in rare cases, a boycott-laden space of 'super sensitivities' for certain agency buyers. Because our anchors are just reporting the news, breaking news stories or interviewing news makers, they won’t be offering opinions, just great energy and focus on the important topics of the day. News radio is a ‘safe buy environment,’ the type of environment which is usually bought by music or top of the hour news buyers, making it the best of both worlds for our affiliated stations’ revenue needs.”
