Outraged that the MASSACHUSETTS General Court, facing a $2 billion budget shortfall and other pressing issues, is spending time proclaiming holidays and naming "official" animals and granting other honors, CLEAR CHANNEL Talk WXKS-A (RUSH RADIO 1200)/BOSTON morning man JEFF KATZ has announced his candidacy for Official MASSACHUSETTS State Cowboy.
An angry KATZ, talking to a State Senator who has proposed proclaiming volleyball the Official State Recreational Sport, said, "While the Commonwealth is facing a $2 billion dollar budget shortfall and is burdened by a parole board which releases inmates serving multiple life sentences, the MASSACHUSETTS General Court is proposing meaningful legislation to proclaim School Bus Driver Day and to name an Official State Amphibian."
"Nothing says silly like the idea of a pasty tribesman wearing chaps and spurs," said the PHILADELPHIA-bred "cowboy," who wants the legislature to focus on "cops, schools, taxes and jobs" instead of the more frivolous of the over 5,000 bills being introduced this session. "I will bring a can of beans to re-enact the famous scene from 'Blazing Saddles' if necessary to get the focus of our state legislators back where it should be," he threatened.
