Harker Research Takes On Article Supporting Pandora Over Broadcast Radio

The folks at HARKER RESEARCH are never shy about blogging their opinion of issues affecting our industry, and their latest, "Sun Rotates 'Round Earth! PANDORA Devours Broadcast!" takes a competing industry trade to task.
Feeling Internet radio got a better spin that broadcast radio, HARKER writes, "Judging the impact of PANDORA on broadcast radio is another example where people don’t seem concerned about facts or evidential proof. They just know in their heart that PANDORA will devour broadcast."
The blog discusses SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA BROADCASTERS ASSOCIATION's MARY BETH GARBER, who HARKER feels has been "a lone voice defending broadcast radio, first against satellite radio and now against Internet radio," and how her recent defense of terrestrial radio was attacked by the publication in question. HARKER feels the article attacking her seemed written by someone who "appeared to have drunk deeply from the PANDORA punch bowl, essentially declaring PANDORA the victor over radio."
HARKER concludes the trade publication in question "could spend a little less time leading cheers for the other team and more time better understanding and highlighting the good radio that keeps broadcasting on top."
