WAY-FM and COMPASSION INTERNATIONAL recently partnered to raise child sponsorships for children in HAITI. On the first anniversary of the JANUARY 12th, 2010 earthquake that devastated the country, WAY-FM personalities BRANT HANSEN and "TOTAL AXXESS" host WALLY traveled to HAITI to see the work of COMPASSION INTERNATIONAL firsthand.
Then over the course of four days, WAY-FM shared the stories of children affected by the earthquake and the progress that has been made to restore the country. WAY-FM listeners sponsored 2,090 children, surpassing the goal of 1,600 sponsorships.
COMPASSION INTERNATIONAL Pres./CEO WESS STAFFORD said, “Even though the media spotlight has largely moved on, the needs in HAITI remain immense. COMPASSION is so grateful that the WAY-FM staff and listeners have not forgotten. Over 2000 additional HAITIAN children are now receiving life-changing benefits through COMPASSION’s program, simply because WAY-FM listeners answered the call to action.”
“From the beginning of our relationship with COMPASSION, WAY-FM has wanted to make an impact in the lives of children. The anniversary of last year’s earthquake in HAITI gave us an opportunity to share the need with our community of listeners. I am so thankful for their response,” said WAY-FM COO LLOYD PARKER.
WAY-FM and COMPASSION are now focusing on a nine-date national tour featuring SANCTUS REAL and THE AFTERS. At each tour date, BRANT HANSEN or WALLY will share the ministries of WAY-FM and COMPASSION on stage. The tour begins on APRIL 14th in WEST PALM BEACH, FL and ends in WICHITA, KS on MAY 20th.
