Dan Mandis Exits WOWO To Join KHOW-KKZN/Denver As PD

FEDERATED MEDIA Talk WOWO-A and Sports WKJG-A (ESPN 1380)/FORT WAYNE OM DAN MANDIS has resigned to take the position as PD at CLEAR CHANNEL Talk KHOW-A and Talk KKZN-A (AM760)/DENVER. MANDIS, recently named FEDERATED MEDIA's PD of the Year, previously served as Dir./AM Programming and Operations for CITADEL in COLORADO SPRINGS, News Anchor/Promotions Dir. at KLIF-A/DALLAS, Producer at KFI-A/LOS ANGELES, and producer and engineer for DR. LAURA SCHLESSINGER's syndicated show.

In a release, GM MARK DEPREZ said that MANDIS "is the ultimate class act. No job is beneath him. DAN is well-liked and respected by everyone he encounters. He will be missed and he will be hard to replace."

That leaves WOWO in need of a new PD. In its release looking for MANDIS' replacement, DEPREZ notes that FORT WAYNE has been ranked second on PARENT MAGAZINE's list of "Best Places to Raise a Baby" and got high marks from FORBES.COM's list of "Best Places to Work and Live."

The new PD must understand the role news, weather and traffic play in the building and maintenance of a news talk brand, identify and recruit talent, produce and nurture a morning show, have created and executed strong branding, marketing, imaging, promotion and community involvement projects, develop and implement a strategic plan from research, understand the value and the role of profit and what it takes to produce a healthy bottom line, and understand the relationship between social marketing and ratings.
