Fred Grandy Exits WMAL
March 3, 2011 at 12:53 PM (PT)
Former Congressman and actor FRED GRANDY has exited mornings at CITADEL MEDIA Talk WMAL-A/WASHINGTON.
The station released a terse statement saying, "FRED GRANDY has informed WMAL of his intention to resign from the station and its morning program, THE GRANDY GROUP. Veteran broadcast talent BRYAN NEHMAN will continue to anchor the morning program and in the interim will be joined by several notable guest hosts and regular contributors. The station’s morning show will also continue to provide the latest news, traffic and weather reports to its audience. WMAL remains committed to its goal of providing a forum for discussing a broad spectrum of issues while delivering compelling programming including CHRIS PLANTE, RUSH LIMBAUGH, SEAN HANNITY and MARK LEVIN."
GRANDY's departure was first reported at DCRTV.COM, which is also reporting that reports by conservative blogs like PAJAMAS MEDIA that pressure from the COUNCIL FOR AMERICAN-ISLAMIC RELATIONS over GRANDY's regular segments with his wife discussing radical Islam, are not accurate and that the pressure was "not directly responsible" for the departure.
