Honoring the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, the RADIO TELEVISION DIGITAL NEWS FOUNDATION will honor nine journalists with the 10th Anniversary 9/11 Tribute Award at its APRIL 10th First Amendment Awards dinner in WASHINGTON.
The honorees include ABC NEWS Chief White House Correspondent MARTHA RADDATZ, ABC NEWS RADIO National Correspondent ANN COMPTON, AP RADIO Correspondent WARREN LEVINSON, CBS Chief National Correspondent BYRON PITTS, CBS RADIO Executive Producer CHARLIE KAYE, CNN National Security Correspondent JEANNE MESERVE, FOX NEWS Correspondent RICK LEVENTHAL, NBC NEWS Correspondent REHEMA ELLIS, and NPR "ALL THINGS CONSIDERED" host MELISSA BLOCK.
"It seemed fitting for an event designed to honor those who work every day to protect the First Amendment and the freedoms it guards for all Americans to focus on the amazing work done 10 years ago at the time of the SEPTEMBER 11 attacks,” said RTDNF Chairman STACEY WOELFEL. “We wanted to be sure that we could honor the scores of journalists who risked their own personal safety to cover those attacks so the American people would know what was happening. We will bring together a small group of those journalists to step into the spotlight and be recognized for their work, knowing each of them represents hundreds more who worked just as hard to report that story at a time when it was very hard to tell."
Receiving First Amendment Awards at the dinner, which is being hosted by CBS' RUSS MITCHELL, are HEARST TELEVISION INC. President and CEO DAVID J. BARRETT, CNN's WOLF BLITZER, and RAYCOM MEDIA's SUSANA SCHULER.
