Florida FM Pirate Hit With Double Fine By FCC

The FCC has fined a FLORIDA pirate station operator $20,000 for running an unlicensed radio transmitter in FORT LAUDERDALE.
WHISLER FLEURINOR was hit with the fine, representing two separate Notices of Unlicensed Operation for the same facility, for running a pirate station on 99.5 FM. "The fact that Mr. FLEURINOR continued to operate with full knowledge that such activity violated the Act and the Rules demonstrates a deliberate disregard for the Commission’s requirements," the Commission wrote. "Thus, we find that an upward adjustment in the forfeiture amount is warranted."
