R.I. Governor Returns To Talk Radio With WPRO-A Appearance
March 10, 2011 at 11:32 AM (PT)
First, he eased the ban on RHODE ISLAND state employees appearing on commercial talk radio shows, and now Gov. LINCOLN CHAFEE has himself returned to the air with an appearance on CITADEL Talk WPRO-A-WEAN/PROVIDENCE.
CHAFEE broke his radio silence by going on DAN YORKE's show TODAY (3/10). The ban (NET NEWS 1/11), initiated due to CHAFEE's position that radio is "ratings-driven, for-profit programming" and that it is not "appropriate to use taxpayer resources" to support it, was subsequently refined to mean refraining from appearances during working hours, and CHAFEE indicated that the ban was never intended to be permanent.
