MEDIAITE is reporting that FOX NEWS SVP of Production/Development JOEL CHEATWOOD will exit the network at the end of the month and is expected to be joining GLENN BECK's MERCURY RADIO ARTS. Shortly after MEDIAITE's report, DEADLINE.COM had its own report that characterized CHEATWOOD's move in a different way, suggesting that FOX "had no intention of renewing" CHEATWOOD's $700,000 contract.
BECK has been expanding his operation with the addition of THEBLAZE.COM, the "Fourth Hour" online-only with PAT GRAY and STEVE "STU" BURGUIERE, and S.E. CUPP's online show. CHEATWOOD, a longtime television news executive with a reputation for creating flashy and sometimes controversial local news formats at stations like FOX affiliate WSVN-TV/MIAMI, NBC affiliate WHDH-TV/BOSTON, NBC O&O WMAQ-TV/CHICAGO, and CBS O&O WCBS-TV/NEW YORK, worked with BECK at CNN.
