Report: Google Music Now In Testing

On the heels of speculation that APPLE will launch a music cloud service, CNET NEWS reports that GOOGLE has begun testing its own site, GOOGLE MUSIC internally. Could a full-blown launch be far behind?
GOOGLE employees are testing the service in-house, a process known in SILICON VALLEY as "dog-fooding." Whether the test version turns out to be the final version is unknown at this time.
However, sources indicate the same sticking point persists -- getting licensing deals from all the major label groups and publishers. GOOGLE earlier predicted everything would be in place for a launch by late 2010. That didn't happen, so GOOGLE tentatively planned to demonstrate the service earlier this month at the SOUTH BY SOUTHWEST CONFERENCE. That didn't happen, either.
Negotiations with at least some of the top publishers and with the four largest record labels are ongoing for cloud music rights.
