CLEAR CHANNEL/NORFOLK has launched MOVIN' 107.7 FM -- Music that Makes You Move -- in the HAMPTON ROADS market on a recently upgraded signal. MOVIN' 107.7, soon to become WMOV, will feature a variety of rhythmic hits aimed at attracting the area’s 25 to 44 year-old audience.
The station hit the air at 3p, and will feature artists like MADONNA, PRINCE, BEYONCE, EARTH, WIND AND FIRE, MARIAH CAREY, KOOL & THE GANG, TLC, MICHAEL JACKSON, BLACK EYED PEAS and more. The format is described as "a Rhythmic GEN-X" offering.
Said SVP/Programming JON ZELLNER, "Our expectations have been exceeded with the GEN X rhythmic versions in HONOLULU and FRESNO. NORFOLK is the perfect market for our third launch and MOVIN' 107-7 will be a great complement to Urban 103 JAMZ, Urban AC KISS 92.1 and classic hits MAGIC 105.3."
"MOVIN' 107.7 will offer a fantastic mix of music -- all the most popular and chart-topping hits from the 80s, 90s and early 2000s that our audience loves -- but until now, we haven’t been able to provide enough airplay for them in our market," said GM RUTH STOUTEMIRE. "Our goal is to provide the greatest possible number of listeners with the music they tell us they want. This is the music that our area's 30 and 40-somethings have been asking for, and we couldn't be more excited to offer it to them."
"What a nice job they've done," BURNS CEO ALAN BURNS added. "It sounds very much like the first, and most successful, MOViN' station KQMV in SEATTLE."
