The FCC's Wireless Telecommunications Bureau's announced this week that the Spectrum Management, Resources and Technologies Division is changing its name to the Technologies, Systems and Innovation Division, to be known as the Tech Division for short.
The division develops the bureau's information technology tools, systems and programs, including managing multiple automated systems, developing web-based tools and providing advanced mapping and data analysis capabilities.
"With this name change, the Division will be better positioned to succeed in its mission of developing and managing innovative tools and systems, enabling data driven policy decisions and equipping the public with timely, useful information about wireless services," the Commission said in a press release.
The Wireless Telecommunications Bureau itself is not, however, changing its name.
