Words & Music Night To Showcase Young Songwriters In Nashville
April 5, 2011 at 2:09 PM (PT)
THE COUNTRY MUSIC HALL OF FAME AND MUSEUM will hold its annual WORDS & MUSIC NIGHT on APRIL 26th in NASHVILLE at THE FORD THEATER. Middle TENNESSEE students will perform their original songs accompanied by volunteer professional songwriters during the event, which will be hosted by MECURY artist LAURA BELL BUNDY. The program begins at 6:30p (CT) and is open to performing students and their families.
“The WORDS & MUSIC program allows students to express themselves creatively and to learn the craft of lyric writing,” said JAY ORR, VP/Museum Programs. “The WORDS & MUSIC NIGHT recital showcases the breadth, depth and quality of those student compositions. This year, for example, songs run the gamut from a poignant tune about the 2010 earthquake in HAITI to a humorous song about KRYSTAL burgers. When the students perform their songs on the FORD THEATER stage with professional songwriters, it is not only a proud moment for the audience of parents, teachers and Museum staff, but also an evening of first-rate entertainment. We look forward to it every year.”
WORDS & MUSIC NIGHT is the culmination of the yearlong WORDS & MUSIC program. Classes participating in the program complete a three-part, 15-lesson curriculum, developed by the Museum, which highlights the lyric-writing process. The showcase will include performances by students ranging from third-graders to high school students, from ANTIOCH HIGH SCHOOL, BATTLE GROUND ACADEMY, BELVOIR CHRISTIAN ACADEMY, ENSWORTH SCHOOL, GLENCLIFF ELEMENTARY, GOWER ELEMENTARY, GRASSLAND ELEMENTARY, KENWOOD ELEMENTARY, LOCKELAND ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, MEIGS MAGNET MIDDLE SCHOOL, MT. VIEW ELEMENTARY, OVERBROOK SCHOOL, SUMNER ACADEMY and WOODLAND MIDDLE SCHOOL.
