EVANGEL MINISTRIES Contemporary Christian WEMI/APPLETON-OSHKOSH, WI and WEMY/GREEN BAY announced that more than $191,000 of personal hygiene items and cleaning products were collected and donated to 45 local crisis and homeless agencies through the 19th ANNUAL HELP FOR THE HOMELESS campaign.
More than 550 area businesses, schools and churches served as collection sites in the FOX CITIES, GREEN BAY, OSHKOSH, FOND DU LAC and MANITOWOC for area homeless coalition agencies. All of the donations remained in the communities where they were given.
“This campaign, hands down, impacted so many -- was made possible by so many -- it was truly a community effort of monumental proportions. It was hard to leave when we’d finished sorting and loading up our vehicles; one felt as though they were witness to something bigger than any of us, something sacred. When we arrived at the shelter to unload the donations, both staff and residents were struck by the generosity of this community," said COTS INC. LAURA ERICKSON.
New features of the campaign this year were BROWN COUNTY UNITED WAY's partnership with the BROWN COUNTY HOMELESS AND HOUSING COALITION to promote the event in the GREEN BAY area. The new FOX CITIES DIAPER BANK will receive a matching donation of 10,000 diapers through KIMBERLY-CLARK'S HUGGIES EVERY LITTLE BOTTOM campaign. More than 14,000 diapers were donated in the FOX CITIES area.
HELP FOR THE HOMELESS will be back next MARCH 2012.
