GLENN BECK's production company MERCURY RADIO ARTS and FOX NEWS have announced that GLENN BECK will be "transitioning off his daily program to concentrate on developing "a variety of television projects for air on the FOX NEWS CHANNEL as well as content for other platforms including FOX NEWS's digital properties," according to the WASHINGTON POST.
BECK's TV ratings have been falling dramatically over the past year, with WAPO reporting, "Since last August, when he summoned more than 100,000 followers to the WASHINGTON MALL for the 'Restoring Honor' rally, MR. BECK has lost over a third of his audience on FOX -- a greater percentage drop than other hosts at FOX. DAVID CARR wrote in early MARCH, 'True, he fell from the great heights of the health care debate in JANUARY 2010, but there has been worrisome erosion -- more than one million viewers -- especially in the younger demographic."
FOX NEWS Chairman & CEO ROGER AILES noted, "GLENN BECK is a powerful communicator, a creative entrepreneur and a true success by anybody's standards. I look forward to continuing to work with him."
BECK added, "I truly believe that AMERICA owes a lot to ROGER AILES and FOX NEWS. I cannot repay ROGER for the lessons I've learned and will continue to learn from him and I look forward to starting this new phase of our partnership."
