SHOW DOG-UNIVERSAL artist TRACE ADKINS has a love of history that brought him to CAPITOL HILL TODAY (4/14) to testify before CONGRESS about the importance of protecting historic sites, particularly CIVIL WAR battlefields.
ADKINS said, “AMERICAN battlefields serve as monuments to what can happen when political wisdom fails and our differences are allowed to escalate beyond reason."
ADKINS has asked for support of the CIVIL WAR BATTLEFIELD PRESERVATION PROGRAM, a public-private partnership and matching grants program responsible for the permanent protection of more than 16,500 acres of battlefield land. He encouraged members of CONGRESS to allocate funds for battlefield preservation now and in the coming years, in recognition of the 150th anniversary of the CIVIL WAR.
