The TOM KENT RADIO NETWORK will launch a new 24/7 Classic Hits format called "24/7 FUN," on its first affiliate, KIRKMAN BROADCASTING WWIK/CHARLESTON, SC. The new format kicked off at 6a this morning as "FUN 98-9 -- CHARLESTON'S GREATEST HITS!"
Veteran radio pro BILL SHANNON is hosting mornings, STEVE KENT is holding down the midday fort and TOM KENT covers afternoons and nights. All shows will be localized with TKRN's exclusive "T.L.C." total local customization system which is a program created to integrate total local content into the company’s network platform.
TKRN CEO/Pres. TOM KENT said, "24/7 FUN is the culmination of everything all of us here at TKRN have been working so hard toward for the past three years. We are blessed to have a great staff for the execution of this exciting new format as well as a great visionary in KIRKMAN BROADCASTING owner GIL KIRKMAN. He’s the first to step up to give us the keys to his great facility in CHARLESTON, a market that until now didn’t have a Classic Hits station. We’re happy to fill that void with something all of us can be proud of. At this very moment, I’m wearing my shades because the future is just that bright!"
KIRKMAN BROADCASTING CEO/Pres. GIL KIRKMAN added, "We’re thrilled that we've formed this relationship with the TOM KENT RADIO NETWORK and are the first station on board for '24/7 FUN'. After considering all the different options available, we are proud to have made the very best selection. No one else even came close and we’re confident CHARLESTON radio will be a much better place because of it. FUN 98-9 is 24/7 FUN! We’re looking forward to a long and winning future together."
