LARA SCOTT, midday host for SALEM Christian AC KFSH (95.9 THE FISH)/LOS ANGELES, is leading a fundraising campaign for the 2011 LEUKEMIA AND LYMPHOMA SOCIETY Woman Of The Year award.
SCOTT calls her fundraising campaign "relentless" and commits to the phrase, "I refuse to do nothing." "I am doing this in honor of my brave friend KYLE, who is only 31, married to his high school sweetheart BECKY, and dad to children KOLE and EMMA. He has been battling lymphoma for a year. Now, after six rounds of chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant from the CITY OF HOPE, there is still a small amount of lymphoma in his abdomen and he's currently undergoing additional chemotherapy treatment," she said.
The LEUKEMIA AND LYMPHOMA SOCIETY's Man and Woman of the Year (MWOY) campaign is a fundraising competition in communities across the U.S. in which participants vie for the title of Man or Woman of the Year. They raise funds for blood cancer research in honor of local children who are blood cancer survivors, the Boy & Girl of the Year. The titles are awarded to the men and women in each community who raise the most funds during the ten-week campaign; the top local fundraisers in the country also win the national titles.
