North Carolina Tar Heels Radio Voice Woody Durham Retires

Longtime UNIVERSITY OF NORTH CAROLINA football and men's basketball radio play-by-play voice WOODY DURHAM will announce WEDNESDAY that he is retiring. The official announcement will be made at a press conference on campus at 10a (ET) WEDNESDAY morning, according to the TAR HEELS' official website.
DURHAM, a 1963 graduate of the university, has called play-by-play on the TAR HEEL SPORTS NETWORK since 1971. He has won numerous awards during his career, including the NORTH CAROLINA Sportscaster of the Year award 13 times, and has been inducted into the NORTH CAROLINA SPORTS HALL OF FAME and the NORTH CAROLINA BROADCASTERS HALL OF FAME. After serving as Sports Director at the school's noncommercial WUNC, DURHAM was Sports Director at WFMY-TV/GREENSBORO in 1963-77 and at WPTF-TV/RALEIGH from 1977-81. His son WES is the voice of the ATLANTA FALCONS and GEORGIA TECH; another son, TAYLOR, works for ISP SPORTS.
