EMMIS Alternative WRXP (101.9 RXP)/NEW YORK presents its first syndicated live concert broadcast on WEDNESDAY, MAY 11th from WEBSTER HALL. The show will be branded, "THE ANYTHING ANYTHING 10 O' CLOCK NEWS" LIVE EDITION," a hybrid of RICH RUSSO’s SUNDAY night free form show "ANYTHING ANYTHING" and BRIAN PHILLIPS’ nightly "10 O'CLOCK NEWS" hosted by WRXP's MATT PINFIELD, LESLIE FRAM, RICH RUSSO and BRIAN PHILLIPS. The first show will be syndicated in at least two other markets and will feature local and independent rock band THE DIRTY PEARLS.
RUSSO began a live concert series in conjunction with his free form SUNDAY night show, "ANYTHING ANYTHING." Both the live and the radio versions feature music veterans as well as independent acts or artists largely unheard on radio.
Enamored with THE DIRTY PEARLS’ local anthem "New York City Is A Drug," RUSSO played the demo recording frequently on "Anything Anything." The tune quickly became a theme song for the NYC East Village rock culture and was then featured on WRXP's countdown show "DEFINITIVE 101.9." The success of the "ANYTHING ANYTHING" concert series and the quickly growing fan base of THE DIRTY PEARLS were WRXP's impetus to broadcast live for the first time with the unknowns.
WRXP PD LESLIE FRAM said, "Part of 101.9 RXP's mission in the beginning was to support the local scene and I can't think of a better NEW YORK band to do our first 'live' concert broadcast than THE DIRTY PEARLS! Rock is alive in NYC."
