A new SMOOTH JAZZ NETWORK® affiliate radio station,"SMOOTH JAZZ 104.7" (THE OASIS), just signed on FM translator W284BQ in DETROIT. The station simulcasts on 107.5 WGPR HD-2.
"The tide is turning for this truly unique radio format and we’re thrilled to be working with TIM MARTZ, DREW SCOTT and the team at MARTZ COMMUNICATIONS GROUP," BROADCAST ARCHITECTURE Owner/Pres. ALLEN KEPLER said. "The vision of MARTZ to offer a format to the many passionate fans in DETROIT is nothing short of genius. Literally hundreds of thousands of people have been missing Smooth Jazz in DETROIT. It’s such a great fit too, with DETROIT radio and smooth jazz veteran SANDY KOVACH co-hosting the morning show along with music icon KENNY G; plus saxophonist DAVE KOZ in PM drive, who was a long-time, successful afternoon host in DETROIT."
"Over 700,000 listeners have been searching for Smooth Jazz on DETROIT radio since V98.7 changed format over a year ago," TIM MARTZ said. "We’re pleased to partner with independent and locally-owned WGPR to bring Smooth Jazz back to southeast MICHIGAN and to join the SMOOTH JAZZ NETWORK family."
"We believe that our smooth jazz music mix will bring southeast MICHIGAN smooth jazz lovers back to FM from the Internet and other media, where they were forced to go after the format was abandoned by V98.7," DREW SCOTT said. "We are excited to bring Smooth Jazz back to DETROIT."
