According to THE TENNESSEAN, a group of radio personalities and managers have formed a nonprofit TENNESSEE RADIO HALL OF FAME, to honor those who have influenced the state’s broadcasting industry. Serving as President of the organization will be VENTURE BROADCASTING News/Talk WQKR-A/PORTLAND, TN GM, LEE DORMAN, who authored the book "NASHVILLE BROADCASTING."
“There are more than 100 stations throughout this state, which have entertained and informed audiences for decades with outstanding talent, and we feel it is time to pay homage to them,” said DORMAN. Serving on the group’s founding board are LUCINDA HARGROVE SHORE, GARY BEATY, TOM BRITT, and STEVE BOWERS.
Membership will be open to the general public, and anyone who has worked in TENNESSEE radio for two or more years may become a full time member. The organization hopes to hold their first induction ceremony in MAY 2012, and intend to display a small museum inside a NASHVILLE landmark.
