CAPITOL BROADCASTING AC WRAL (MIX 101.5)/RALEIGH raised over $700,000 on WEDNESDAY (4/20) during their day-long "HERE TO HELP DISASTER RELIEF" telethon.
MIX 101.5's BILL JORDAN and LYNDA LOVELAND of BILL & LYNDA IN THE MORNING encouraged listeners to open up their hearts and their wallets to show support for their neighbors who were affected by tragedy. The tornadoes that devastated the region on SATURDAY (4/16) killed more than 20 people and destroyed 440 homes.
WRAL PD BARRY FOX commented, "Our parent company, CAPITOL BROADCASTING COMPANY and its employees believe strongly in community service and will always make it priority one. During extreme severe weather situations, MIX 101.5 has always broadcast the audio portion of sister station WRAL-TV’s long form storm coverage. This allows their viewers and our listeners to safely track the approaching storm and tornadoes from their designated safe place. And, as we learned this past SATURDAY, informed some listeners to make life-saving decisions while on the road."
