UNIVERSAL MUSIC GROUP/NASHVILLE artist LEE ANN WOMACK will sing “Sunshine” at the induction of JOHN DENVER into the newly opened COLORADO MUSIC HALL OF FAME TOMORROW (4/22). She will be joined by NITTY GRITTY DIRT BAND, collaborator BILL DANOFF of THE STARLAND VOCAL BAND and JOHN SOMMERS, the BOULDER PHILHARMONIC and event hostess OLIVIA NEWTON JOHN for the ceremony.
“There are those artists who are more than any one genre,” LEE ANN said. “When I asked if I could sing 'Sunshine,' because I've always loved that song, I was sure they'd tell me someone else had to sing it … When I was told I could, it was one of those moments where you get to sing a song that so defines another, yet somehow feels like a piece of who you are.”
The event is being held at BOULDER’s 6,500-seat 1STBANK CENTER, which is also the permanent home of the COLORADO MUSIC HALL OF FAME. The concert -- billed as “JOHN DENVER: A Rocky Mountain High EARTH DAY Celebration” -- benefits the COUSTEAU SOCIETY and THE WIND STAR FOUNDATION, two of DENVER’s biggest charities, as well as the UNIVERSITY OF COLORADO's SCHOOL OF MUSIC.
