Congratulations to BIG MACHINE RECORDS duo STEEL MAGNOLIA for their successful campaign to raise cell phones for GM’s “CELL PHONES FOR SOLDIERS” campaign. The duo teamed up with CBS RADIO Country WIRK/WEST PALM BEACH and WQYK/TAMPA to encourage local high schools to raise cell phones for the program, a non-profit group that collects gently used cell phones, to raise funds so they can purchase 60 minute pre-paid calling cards to send to soldiers serving abroad.
With the help of FT. PIERCE’s JOHN CARROLL HIGH SCHOOL and TAMPA’s BRAD RIVER HIGH SCHOOL, STEEL MAGNOLIA, CHEVROLET, and CBS RADIO collected 800 cell phones. The schools earned acoustic concerts from the duo for their participation in the drive.
