Phoenix Trio Sells For $16 Million

RIVIERA BROADCAST GROUP and its ATMOR PROPERTIES and RBG PHOENIX LICENSES subsidiaries are selling three PHOENIX stations to RIVIERA BROADCASTING, LLC, an entity headed by RON BURKLE's YUCAIPA COMPANIES, for $16 million. Among other investors on the buyers' side is MAGIC JOHNSON, whose JOHNSON CAPITAL MANAGEMENT, LLC is partnered with YUCAIPA in two of the funds that are investors in the new RIVIERA.
The stations being sold include Hurban KVIB (95.1 LATINO VIBE)/SUN CITY WEST, AZ; Alternative KEXX (X 103.9)/GILBERT, AZ; and Top 40/Rhythmic KKFR (POWER 98.3)/MAYER, AZ.
Gainesville-Ocala Deal Has Price Attached: $2.55 Million
In other filings with the FCC, the purchase by MARC RADIO of PAMAL BROADCASTING's GAINESVILLE-OCALA cluster, previously announced without a price tag attached, is priced at $2.55 million. The deal includes Active Rock WHHZ (100.5 THE BUZZ)/NEWBERRY, Top 40/Rhythmic WTMG (MAGIC 101.3)/WILLISTON, Classic Country WDVH-A and Gospel WTMN-A/GAINESVILLE, Hot AC WKZY/CROSS CITY, Adult Standards WRZN-A (SUNNY 720)/HERNANDO, and Classic Country WDVH-F/TRENTON, FL. MARC is headed by broadcasting veterans BOB LONGWELL, MIKE SCHWEITZER, and TOM HAUFF.
PANORAMA PA, INC. is selling Classic Hits WAZL-A/HAZLETON, PA to WAZL PARTNERS, LLP for $115,000 plus a time brokerage agreement before closing.
CLEAN AIR BROADCASTING CORPORATION is selling the construction permit for a new FM in KEY WEST, FL to CORNERSTONE BROADCASTING CORPORATION for $12.450.
Cox Plans FM Translator For WDBO/Orlando
An application granted THURSDAY by the FCC to move an FM translator owned by CENTRAL FLORIDA EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION, INC., W239BS/MOUNT DORA, FL, from 95.7 FM to 95.9 FM noted that the translator is planned to rebroadcast COX MEDIA GROUP Talk WDBO-A/ORLANDO, giving that station an FM signal in part of the market. The move of W239BS would change its city of license to ORLANDO, and is contingent upon the move of W240CM, also owned by CFEF, to 96.1 FM. W239BS is the relocated W240BV/MOUNT DORA, for which COX's WPYO/ORLANDO was the signal designated to be rebroadcasted on the frequency.
HAWKEYE COMMUNICATIONS, INC. has applied for a Silent STA for FM translator K275BM/ELLIOTT, IA.
WCN, INC. has asked the FCC for an extension of the Silent STA for KKRR/CASPER, WY.
And KORKEE, INC. has closed on the sale of the construction permit for noncommercial WUMI/NEWBERRY, MI to WEST CENTRAL MICHIGAN MEDIA MINISTRIES for $2,500.
