Social media is everywhere, so it's unsurprising that the WORLDWIDE RADIO SUMMIT in HOLLYWOOD is devoting two sessions to the topic. FRIDAY's edition was moderated by ALL ACCESS Dir./Business Development MARK CAPUANO and featured the participation of LISTENER DRIVEN RADIO's DANIEL ANSTANDIG, SHAZAM's DAVID JONES, PI RESEARCH's KEN BENSON, THE MOBILIUM INTERNATIONAL ADVISORY GROUP's RALPH SIMON, and COLEMAN INSIGHTS' SAM MILKMAN.
The panelists gave individual presentations, with ANSTANDIG explaining his company's approach to social media, JONES explaining SHAZAM's revenue model of music discovery leading to purchases and its "SHAZAM FRIENDS" social app, BENSON showing statistics on FACEBOOK usage and effectiveness of "friending" and the "Like" button (and the value of responding to users via FACEBOOK).
MILKMAN addressed the importance of "access and engagement" in social media and the challenge of having responses at the ready for any question, and SIMON discussed the value of collecting information on users and expanding into developing and overseas nations by dealing in the local language (with the example of LADY GAGA's voice being transmuted into Hindi and AVRIL LAVIGNE recording in Mandarin).
