The TENNESSEAN is reporting that ARISTA/NASHVILLE artist BRAD PAISLEY will donate proceeds from the sale on his single “Old ALABAMA” to tornado relief efforts in ALABAMA. He has pledged to use the song to help its namesake state and will donate artist royalties from iTUNES and other digital download sales to the AMERICAN RED CROSS.
RANDY OWEN, from the band ALABAMA which is also featured in the song, said residents of the state need all the help they can get.
“Our state is devastated,” OWEN said. “There’s no way to describe the destruction that’s gone on. Our hearts are very heavy. It’s just a battery of emotion. In church SUNDAY there were like 40 names mentioned of people who were dead, severely injured or missing. What’s amazing is that a lot of places these people were killed (in) were in brick homes with basements. When you get to that category of tornado, I guess nothing can save you, unless you’re just lucky.”
