CITADEL Talk WPRO-A-WEAN (NEWS TALK 630 WPRO AND 99.7FM)/PROVIDENCE has added a new blog at 630WPRO.com, "PLAIN SPEAK," to be authored by veteran online and print newsman BOB PLAIN. PLAIN is joining the station from AOL's EAST GREENWICH PATCH, part of the PATCH.COM network of hyperlocal sites; he joined PATCH after it bought his site MY02818, RHODE ISLAND's pioneer hyperlocal site.
"I'm thrilled to be a member of WPRO's digital newsroom," said PLAIN. "I look forward to making PLAIN SPEAK and 630WPRO.com daily must-reads for anyone looking for news about RHODE ISLAND. PLAIN SPEAK will mix breaking news coverage, investigative and enterprise reporting, content curation, multimedia and other visual journalism to provide the most comprehensive and innovative place on the web for news and information about RHODE ISLAND.
"I'll be creating some of the best, most relevant and most interesting journalism in the region," PLAIN said. "And I'll be doing so in a way that will allow me to post stories quickly, continuously and in a variety of media -- written, oral and visual. We have a tremendous opportunity here at WPRO to not only be the best Internet news destination in RHODE ISLAND, but also to help create a template for how news will be consumed for the rest of the 21st Century and beyond. I'm tremendously excited about both the opportunity and the possibilities."
"BOB is a great addition to the award winning news department of 630 WPRO and 630WPRO.com," said Market Manager BARBARA HUGHES. "BOB's investigative and enterprising reporting will bring keen awareness of critical issues affecting Rhode Islanders and will be delivered to our audience on air, on-line and on demand."
"BOB's extensive experience in digital reporting along with his intense desire to change the way news is delivered and received will no doubt benefit all of RHODE ISLAND," said PD PAUL GIAMMARCO.
