The FCC's Media Bureau has opened a docket for comments on how low-power FM stations have impacted full-service commercial FM stations on an economic level. Comments in MB Docket No. 11-83 are due JUNE 24th with replies due JUNE 25th.
The proceeding is asking for comments on changes in ratings and in advertising revenues for the commercial stations, and what the appropriate geographic areas should be. It also asks for comment on whether the Local Community Radio Act requires the Commission to include "predictive judgments" about the impact of LPFM in advance, based on interpretation of a section of the law that uses the future tense. The Bureau said that it does not intend to include anything about interference issues in the report.
