OREGON STATE UNIVERSITY sports radio voice MIKE PARKER came on PAMPLIN Talk KPAM-A (AM 860, THE VOICE OF PORTLAND)/PORTLAND TUESDAY night (5/11) in his first and, thus far only media interview to address the controversy over a YOUTUBE video in which he was shown drunk and eating a napkin at a LOS ANGELES restaurant.
PARKER appeared on "NORTHWEST SPORTS TONIGHT WITH RON CALLAN" to acknowledge that he is the man shown in the viral video and that he was "deeply ashamed" of the incident. The video was taped by another diner and posted without PARKER's knowledge.
PARKER, the voice of the OSU BEAVERS for 12 years and co-host of "THE JOE BEAVER SHOW" on BICOASTAL MEDIA Sports KEJO-A (1240 JOE RADIO)/CORVALLIS, is employed by LEARFIELD SPORTS' BEAVER SPORTS PROPERTIES, and the CORVALLIS GAZETTE TIMES reports that the school issued a statement supporting PARKER, who has been in an alcohol recovery program for seven weeks. PARKER has not been fired and continues to serve as the BEAVERS' play-by-play voice.
