BRYAN BROADCASTING Top 40 KNDE (CANDY 95)/BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION PD TUCKER "FRITO" YOUNG tells ALL ACCESS, "CANDY 95 and sister station WTAW-A have been following coverage of the aftermath of the JOPLIN tornado along with the rest of the nation. After listening to coverage online from ZIMMER RADIO/JOPLIN, we reached out to see what we could do to help. The team at ZIMMER KZRG provided us with a list of supplies badly needed in town."
Springing into action in less than 12 hours, CANDY 95 and WTAW-A organized a drive yielding almost $15,000 and three 26 foot trucks full of supplies. The trucks are being driven to JOPLIN TODAY (5/25) by station employees who volunteered to make the 10+ hour trek.
"It was just amazing being able to help in some way," added YOUNG. "The team at ZIMMER has been so amazing serving their community in this horrible tragedy. Being able to have their back and make life a little better for JOPLIN means the world."
The BRYAN BROADCASTING frequencies were assisted by television partner KBTX which broadcast from the site of the drive all day. "It’s been a real community wide effort. We just want JOPLIN to know how many people are thinking about them right now," noted YOUNG.
