Retired EDISON INTERNATIONAL Chairman/CEO JOHN BRYSON has been nominated by President OBAMA to be the new Secretary of Commerce. BRYSON, a member of THE WALT DISNEY CO.'s Board of Directors as well as a director at BOEING and Non-Executive Chairman of BRIGHTSOURCE ENERGY, will "be an important part of my economic team," OBAMA said WEDNESDAY in announcing the choice.
If approved, BRYSON will replace GARY LOCKE, who has been tapped as Ambassador to CHINA. FCC Chairman JULIUS GENACHOWSKI was widely tipped to be a leading candidate for the Commerce position, but remains at the Commission.
